"Leadership is a choice. It is not a rank.
I know many people at the senior most levels of organisations who are absolutely not leaders. they are authorities and we do what they say because they have authority over us. But we would not follow them.
And I know many people who are at the bottoms of organisations who have no authority and they are absolutely leaders. And this is because they have chosen to look after the person to the left of them and they have chosen to look after the person to the right of them.
This is what a leader is."
I really like how Four Site describe the 4 archetypes of leadership. They particularly make me think about the kind of leader I am and the different leaders I've worked with over my career but essentially how we need to adopt different elements of each at different times. I decided I'd doctor the original site with some examples of fictitious leaders I love...

And just in case I can't finish today's session I found this amazing guide to Project Management!
This got me thinking - especially when recognising the role of leaders and cultural attitudes in a flat structure.... from Forbes - especially ACCEPT!
And this practical list of types of applied leaders in today's organisations from Harvard Business Review made me think about how different people would adopt these roles depending on the different projects and developments they worked on in a flat structure...
I loved this... it made me think that you should never forget who you are and what you can bring personally.
